Sometimes it’s fun to play with focus to see what you can get when things aren’t perfectly sharp. This one is of sunrise in Galveston. I like the warm colors and the softness of the shapes.
I love Galveston in the early morning. An hour or so before sunrise, everything is still, and then slowly all the birds wake up and the wind picks up and the waves get stronger. The seagulls start flying around aimlessly and squawking, the little sand birds scurry around on the ground, and the pelicans fly [...] One of the great things about living in Houston is having a beach so nearby. It’s especially nice in the offseason when there are fewer people, even on beautiful days.
[...] Juliane and I went down to Galveston yesterday. It was an absolutely gorgeous day at the beach. She let me take some photos of her during the sunset when the light was nice. These are a few of my favorites.
[...] After the comet was a no-show, we decided to stick around to watch the sunrise over the Gulf. Hundreds of seagulls appeared as dawn neared, and pelicans soared overhead like the Mafia of the bird world. When the sun broke through, there was gorgeous golden light shining through the clouds. It was a beautiful, peaceful [...] We went to Galveston to try to catch a view of Comet McNaught several weeks ago. We were unsuccessful because of cloud cover and light pollution, but I did manage to get a few decent pictures while it was still dark. The Milky Way
[...] Em and I took a bunch of pictures in downtown Houston and on the beach in Galveston a couple of weeks ago.
[...] Juliane, Em, and I were down in Galveston getting trained for sea turtle patrol and on our way home, we caught a gorgeous sunset!
