A friend of mine, Sam, was in Houston from Canada for work right before the 4th of July. I took her with me when I headed to Austin for the holiday weekend. One of our stops was The Oasis, a restaurant built into the side of the limestone cliffs overlooking Lake Travis. Sam, Sara, and [...] When I went to Austin for the 4th of July, we stopped in at County Line BBQ on Lake Austin. It’s fantastic BBQ and has a deck out on the lake where you can feed the turtles! Below are a few that were especially friendly. They were adorable!
[...] I love Galveston in the early morning. An hour or so before sunrise, everything is still, and then slowly all the birds wake up and the wind picks up and the waves get stronger. The seagulls start flying around aimlessly and squawking, the little sand birds scurry around on the ground, and the pelicans fly [...] The US Botanic Garden is spectacular, even in winter. I got to stop by for a couple of house in February and could have spent all day looking at and taking pictures of all of the gorgeous plants. Below are some of my favorites.
[...] When I was on travel for work in February in DC, I scheduled a couple of extra days to bum around DC. One of the places I got to go was the US Botanic Garden. [...] I had a few minutes to get some photos around San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, Texas after a photo shoot. A branch of the San Gabriel River runs through the park and lot of ducks like to hang out there. Spring was definitely on the way – some of the trees were starting [...] Right. Houston was supposed to get 1-6 inches of snow and ice. Nope. We got a quarter of an inch of ice, just enough to mess up all the roads, and not enough to have any fun with. So disappointing. The stairs leading down from my apartment were covered in ice so I elected to [...] There was a total lunar eclipse in December that was visible (through the clouds) in Houston! A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth blocks the sun’s light from hitting the surface of the full Moon. Because the orbit of the Moon is slightly inclined, it doesn’t happen every month, so it’s a special event [...] Traveling between Texas and San Francisco gave me some great views of gorgeous landscapes. On the way to San Francisco, I had clear skies for most of the way. It was downpouring when I left California and cloudy for almost the entire flight back to Houston, so I only got a couple of photos. My [...] |
